Betting on the Texas Tech Red Raiders (odds)
Record: 16-13 Overall/5-11 Conference
Texas Tech saw its four-game win streak come to an end in last Saturday’s 83-82 heartbreaker of a loss to the TCU Horned Frogs at home. Despite the loss, the Red Raiders managed to show great form on offense, as they shot 50 percent from the field, and while they went just 7/20 from deep, they made 15 free throws on 21 attempts. They could use the same aggressiveness on offense to generate a high free-throw attempt rate again this Tuesday versus Kansas. In the first meeting with the Jayhawks, Texas Tech lost by just three points, 75-72, at home, with the Red Raiders going 10/12 from the foul line. The Red Raiders have posted an opponent free-throw rate no higher than 20% in two of their last three games.
Texas Tech is 4-1 against the spread in its last five games away from home.
Betting on the Kansas Jayhawks (odds)
Record: 24-5 Overall/12-4 Conference
Kansas, meanwhile, remains hot. The Jayhawks beat the West Virginia Mountaineers at home last Saturday, 76-74, for their sixth win in a row since losing to the Iowa State Cyclones way back on Feb. 4 in Ames. All five starters scored at least 11 points for Kansas in the West Virginia game, with Dajuan Harris leading the Jayhawks with 17 points on 7/9 shooting from the field. Harris also led the Jayhawks in the first meeting with Texas Tech with 18 points on the strength of a perfect 5/5 shooting from behind the arc. But Harris is far from the only Jayhawks who pose a big threat to Texas Tech, Jalen Wilson and Grady Dick are also big-time Kansas players who shoot the ball well for Kansas, which is third in the Big 12 with a 105.9 adjusted offensive efficiency.
Kansas is 3-1 against the spread in its last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Kansas wins, 75-66.
