Betting on the Texas Longhorns (+4)

Record: 19-4 Overall/8-2 Conference

Texas is smoking. After taking down the Baylor Bears in Auston on Jan. 30, 76-71, the Longhorns defeated the Kansas State Wildcats last Saturday in Manhattan, 69-66. The Longhorns fed off their well-balanced attack that saw five players scoring at least 10 points, with the bench also producing a total of 43 points. Texas’ defense, meanwhile, has been decent of late. Kansas State hit only 44 percent of its shots versus Texas, while Baylor recorded just a 42.6 eFG% in the other contest. The Longhorns get by often with their efficient offense that is ranked 13th nationally in adjusted efficiency, but their defense can’t be slept on either.

Texas, which is top 30 in the nation with a 95.3 adjusted defensive efficiency, is 4-1 against the spread in its last five games.

Betting on the Kansas Jayhawks (-4)

Record: 18-5 Overall/6-4 Conference

Kansas got stunned in Ames over the weekend in a 68-53 road loss to the Iowa State Cyclones. After a three-game losing streak, the Jayhawks looked as though they had finally gotten it together with back-to-back wins over the Kentucky Wildcats and the Kansas State Wildcats to end the month of January. But here they are licking their wounds again following the loss to the Cyclones. Nevertheless, Kansas is always a force to reckon with, especially when it’s playing at home. With Jalen Wilson and Gradey Dick providing firepower for the Jayhawks. Wilson had 26 points in the loss to Iowa State, while Dick bled for only seven points. Dick is too good of a scorer to be held silent in consecutive games.

Kansas is 9-1 straight up in its last 10 home games versus the Longhorns.

Writer’s Prediction

Kansas wins, 75-70.
