FAVORITES
Kevin Harvick (+400)
Harvick remains hot. Even though he did not win at the 2020 Foxwoods Resort Casino 301, he still managed to extend his streak of top-five finishes in points races to seven starts, as he placed fifth at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. That’s quite a run for Harvick, whose chances of winning are looking good again ahead of the FireKeepers Casino 400. After all, he has three wins and 13 top 5s in 38 career starts at Michigan International Speedway.
Joey Logano (+650)
After a 35th-place finish at the Super Start Batteries 400 at Kansas Speedway last month, Logano returned to his usual form with a fourth-place campaign at the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 last Sunday. That’s his third top-10 finish in four starts. Logano has three wins and six top 5s in 22 career starts at Michigan International Speedway. Last year, he won the 2019 FireKeepers Casino 400 there, making him the defending champion of this coming Saturday’s race.
Denny Hamlin (+600)
Currently ranked third in points this season, Hamlin will look to keep it hot when he takes his No. 11 car to Michigan International Speedway this weekend. Hamlin has finished inside the top 5 in three of his last four starts, including a win at the Super Start Batteries 400 at Kansas Speedway and a runner-up performance at the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301. Hamlin has two wins in 28 career starts at Michigan International Speedway.
SLEEPERS
Clint Bowyer (+4000)
Bowyer is still searching for his first win of the season following an 18th-place finish at New Hampshire Motor Speedway over the weekend. Maybe he can find success at Michigan International Speedway, where he has a win and 12 top 10s in 28 career starts.
Matt Kenseth (+6600)
After a runner-up finish at the Brickyard, Kenseth retreated to his shell and never finished better than 17th in any of his next five races (All-Star included). But here’s why you should not completely ignore Kenseth: he has three wins and a 11.34 average finish in 38 career starts at Michigan International Speedway.
LONG SHOT
Ryan Preece (+40,000)
Preece is not going to make the playoffs, but at least he fared better than usual in his last race, finishing 16th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He also placed seventh in his last start (2019 Consumers Energy 400) at Michigan International Speedway.
Writer’s Prediction
Joey Logano wins the 2020 FireKeepers Casino 400.
