Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (+3)
Regular Season Record: 3-5-1
The Eagles can somehow consider themselves lucky for still being atop the NFC East despite horrible overall play this season. The Eagles, who are coming off a 27-17 road loss to the New York Giants last Sunday, can recover this week against the inconsistent Browns. Carson Wentz wasn’t able to score a passing touchdown in the loss to the Giants, but ground attack provided a lift for Philly’s offense, as Boston Scott and Corey Clement each scored a rushing touchdown, while Miles Sanders led the team with 85 rushing yards on 15 carries. Cleveland’s run defense is a strength of the team, but it can also be had. With Sanders looking good in his first game back after missing time due to an injury (he rushed for 5.7 yards per carry against the Giants) and Scott still looking like a factor on the ground and in the passing game, the Eagles will continue looking for their running backs versus Cleveland. Then again, the Eagles could be better and more cohesive on the air this time around, with Wentz having more weapons downfield than he had in most previous weeks.
The over is 7-3 in their last 10 road games.
Betting on the Cleveland Browns (-3)
Regular Season Record: 6-3
Before anything else, let us just offer a moment of silence for all the bettors who laid money on the Browns’ point spread in Week 10. Nick Chubb looked like he was going to give Cleveland spread bettors a nice payout until he decided to step out of bounds instead of scoring a sure rushing touchdown in the dying seconds of the Browns’ 10-7 home win over the Houston Texans. That aside, it was a successful return for Chubb, who rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries in his first game back after a long absence due to injury. Kareem Hunt also had a big game, racking up 104 rushing yards on 10 carries. Chubb and Hunt are going to be the main weapons of Cleveland in Week 11, as the Browns know how bad Philly’s run defense is . It’s bad enough to let Daniel Jones break out for a 34-yard touchdown run last Sunday. The Eagles are 26th in the NFL with 133.0 rushing yards allowed per game, and that plays right into Cleveland’s offense that is third overall with a 51.01 rushing play percentage.
The under is 3-1 in the Browns’ last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Browns win, 23-17.
