Betting on the Alabama Crimson Tide (-17)

Record: 10-0 Overall / 10-0 Conference

The Crimson Tide are shooting for a perfect season in the SEC, a goal that remained very much alive after they destroyed the Arkansas Razorbacks last Saturday on the road to the tune of a 52-3 score. Alabama is simply having such a dominant despite a strange year. The Crimson Tide have won all their 10 games to date by at least 10 points. Quarterback Mac Jones is arguably the best in the entire FBS, and if the Gators want to engage the Crimson Tide in a shootout, he will definitely oblige, especially with the Crimson Tide surrounding him with plenty of elite weapons. The Crimson Tide are third in the nation with 49.5 points per game and fifth with 537.8 total yards per contest. Jones has 3,321 passing yards and 27 passing touchdowns on the season against just three interceptions. His 96.0 QBR is also tops nationally. Florida’s defense isn’t the best out there, and it has had a fair share of struggles in the regular season, so look for the Crimson Tide to wreak havoc when they have the ball.

Alabama is 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games overall.

Betting on the Florida Gators (+17)

Record: 8-2 Overall / 8-2 Conference

The Gators are left picking up the pieces of their shattered dreams to make the national title this year after suffering a devastating 37-34 home loss to unranked LSU Tigers last Saturday. That loss took the air out of Florida’s hopes to get a ticket to the College Football Playoff, though they can still make a case with a win over Alabama. That largely depends on how well quarterback Kyle Trask will play. Trask passed for 474 passing yards and two touchdowns against the Tigers, but had two interceptions on 29-of-47 completions. Trask is No. 1 in the SEC in terms of passing yards, as he’s averaging 371.7 per contest to go with 40 touchdowns against only five interceptions. But it’s really Florida’s defense that has to step up. The Gators know more or less what they are going to get from Trask, while their defense is a bit of a question mark.

The Gators, who are averaging 41.2 points per game, have seen the total go under in three of their last four contests overall.

Writer’s Prediction

Alabama wins, 47-26.
