Betting on the Golden State Warriors (odds)
Regular Season Record: 29-29
With every game, Stephen Curry is proving that he’s not from this planet. Curry is simply on an incredible run, and it appears that there is no way to cool him down. Curry blew up for 49 points on 14-of-28 shooting from the field with 10 threes on 17 attempts in the Warriors’ 107-96 win over the No. 1 team in the East, the Philadelphia 76ers, on the road last Monday. Curry has averaged a crazy 43.7 points on 56.6 percent shooting from the floor and 55.1 percent from behind the arc in the last six Warriors games. He’s taken matters into his hands, but Curry still needs help. Andrew Wiggins (16 points) was the only starter for Golden State in the Philly game who had at least 10 points. In the Warriors’ 110-107 home loss to Washington earlier this month, Curry had 32 points, while Kelly Oubre Jr. and Wiggins had 23 and 15 points, respectively.
The Warriors, who have averaged 1114.0 points in their last 10 games, have covered the spread in five of their past six contests away from home.
Betting on the Washington Wizards (odds)
Regular Season Record: 24-33
The Wizards are on a roll themselves, as Bradley Beal and company have won all their last five games. That includes their 119-107 taming of the Oklahoma City Thunder at home last Monday. The Wizards have played all their last three home games at home, so they should be well-rested for the rematch against Golden State. Against the Thunder, Beal had 30 points, while Russell Westbrook posted another triple-double, finishing with 13 points, 17 assists, and 11 rebounds in 39 minutes. With Beal and Westbrook leading the attack, Washington’s offense has been flowing nicely. In fact, the Wizards have put up 121.0 points on 51.0 percent shooting from the field over their last five games. During that same stretch, Westbrook has logged in averages of 22.8 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 12.4 assists. He also had 19 points, 14 rebounds, and 14 assists in the first meeting with Golden State this season.
The under is 5-0 in the Wizards’ last five home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Washington wins, 123-120.
