Like Hamlin, Truex did not have a very good experience last week at Talladega Superspeedway, having settled for the 31st spot. Nevertheless, he remains a driver to watch out for because of his generally strong start to the season. He has 4 top 5s in 10 starts, including two wins. He’s also got a pair of wins at Kansas Speedway in 25 career starts to go with 9 top 5s and 12 top 10s. He’s finished no worse than ninth in 7 of his last 8 starts at Kansas Speedway.
Chase Elliott (+900)
Elliott has 10 career starts at Kansas Speedway, and most of them were impressive runs. In fact, Elliott owns an 11.00 career average finish on that track, dating back to 2016. He’s won there once before, topping the field at the 2018 Hollywood Casino 400. Last year, he was sixth at the 2020 Hollywood Casino 400.
SLEEPERS
Ryan Newman (+10,000)
Newman showed some signs of life last week when he finished 13th during the race at the Talladega Superspeedway, which came after he went just 30th at the TOYOTA OWNERS 400 in Richmond. Newman has won before at Kansas Speedway, which was when he emerged victorious at the 2003 Banquet 400 presented by ConAgra Foods.
Erik Jones (+10,000)
Jones is coming off a forgettable performance at the 2021 GEICO 500, where he finished 27th overall. However, he has a couple of top 10s this season, including a ninth-place finish in the 2021 Food City Dirt Race back in March. Jones has 5 top 10s in 9 career starts at Kansas Speedway.
LONG SHOT
Ross Chastain (+12,500)
Chastain is coming off a 16th-place finish at Talladega last Sunday, extending his streak of top 17s to three starts. Chastain has four career starts at Kansas Speedway, but his best finish there was just 27th during 2019’s Hollywood Casino 400.
