Regular Season Record: 4-1
The Rams rebounded from their first loss of the season against the Arizona Cardinals at home in Week 4 by beating the Seattle Seahawks on the road in Week 5, 26-17. Matthew Stafford passed for 365 yards and a touchdown with an interception while completing 25-of-37 passes. Stafford had fun targeting wide receiver Robert Woods, who finished the game with 150 receiving yards on 12 catches and 14 targets. Woods was almost unstoppable downfield in that game, and could build on that success heading into the Giants game. The Giants own a poor pass defense that’s last in the league in opponents’ completions percentage (74.01%) and 22nd with 270.2 passing yards surrendered per contest. Conversely, the Rams are 10th in the league with a 68.02 pass completion percentage and second with 310.2 passing yards per game. On top of all those is the potential of the Giants not having their No. 1 quarterback and top running back in Week 6 because of injuries.
The over is 3-1 in the Rams’ last four road games.
Betting on the New York Giants (+10.5)
Regular Season Record: 1-4
Not many teams have had a worse Week 5 than the Giants, who lost to the Dallas Cowboys on the road last Sunday to the tune of a 44-20 score. Not only did they lose to their bitter NFC East rivals, but they also saw Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley do down with injuries. Both players’ statuses are up in the air for Week 6, but between the two, it’s Barkley who’s very likely to miss the Rams game because of an ankle injury. Jones was not able to finish the game against the Cowboys because of a concussion. If he can’t go in Week 6, it’s going to be Mike Glennon under center for the Giants against Los Angeles on Sunday. Glennon had 196 passing yards and a touchdown with two interceptions on 16/25 completions against the Cowboys. As for their RB1, that could be Devontae Booker in Week 6, if Barkley gets ruled out ultimately. Booker had 42 rushing yards and a touchdown on 16 carries last Sunday.
The Giants are 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 games versus NFC teams.
Writer’s Prediction
The Rams win, 33-21.
