Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (+10.5)

Regular Season Record: 2-6

Sometimes, the NFL just does not make any sense. That was perfectly personified by the Jacksonville Jaguars, who pulled off a stunning 9-6 home win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 9. The Jaguars’ upset victory over the legitimate Super Bowl contenders was powered by the explosive performance of Josh Allen. The linebacker was all over the field against the Bills; he had a sack, an interception, and a fumble recovery. Allen is a great talent for the Jags’ defense, and he could make more noise in Week 10 against the Colts’ mediocre pass protection that went to Week 9 ranked just 15th in offensive quarterback sack percentage. The Jaguars could also be betting a key offensive weapon back in time for the Colts game. Running back James Robinson missed the Bills game with a heel injury, but the fact that he was a game-time decision in Week 9 suggests that he’s likely to return in Week 10.

The Jaguars are 4-3 against the spread in their last seven road games.

Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (-10.5)

Regular Season Record: 4-5

Perhaps it is is a plus for the Colts that they saw the Jaguars upset the Bills because that gave them a reason not to take things lightly even though they are the big favorites in Week 10 versus Jacksonville at home. The Colts have covered the spread in seven of their last eight games against Jacksonville as the home team, dating back to 2013. Back in January 2021, the Colts defeated the Jaguars at home to the tune of a 28-14 score. In Week 9, the Colts defeated the New York Jets, 45-30, at Lucas Oil Stadium. Running back Jonathan Taylor gashed the Jets’ defense at will, racking up 172 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just 19 carries. Although the Jaguars did a pretty good job of containing the Bills’ attack, Carson Wentz and Taylor are still seen as the superior quarterback and running back to what Jacksonville has.

The Colts are 3-1 against the spread in their last four home games.
