Betting on the Tennessee Titans (+6)
Regular Season Record: 8-3
The Titans can be quite a mysterious team. While they have proven that they are capable of keeping up with the best teams in the NFL by beating the likes of the Los Angeles Rams, Buffalo Bills, and Kansas City Chiefs, it’s also a unit that lost to the New York Jets and, in Week 11, to the Houston Texans to the tune of a 22-13 score. Tennessee is also heading to Week 12 likely without AJ Brown, who suffered a chest injury in the Texans game, though he’s not yet being ruled out of the Patriots meeting as of this writing. Nevertheless, everyone knows how capable the Titans’ offense is even without Derrick Henry. On the season, Tennessee is averaging 26.5 points per game and 3.1 touchdowns per contest.
The Titans are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games after giving up fewer than 90 rushing yards in their previous game.
Betting on the New England Patriots (-6)
Regular Season Record: 7-4
Bill Belichick has his Patriots trending in the right direction. The Patriots are 5-0 straight up in their last five games and are coming off an impressive 25-0 home win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 11. New England’s defense has been brutal to opponents this season, and that was on full display in the Atlanta game, as the Patriots came away with four interceptions and held the Falcons to only 165 yards of total offense. New England also had four sacks and limited Atlanta to just 2/11 on third downs. That performance by the Pats’ stop unit looked like a bad omen for Tennessee, especially after Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill got intercepted by the Texans four times and sacked twice. So far this season, New England’s defense is no. 1 and no. 8 in the NFL in interception and sack rate, respectively.
The Patriots are 5-0 against the spread in their last five games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
The Patriots win, 24-17.
