Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2)
Regular Season Record: 6-3
The Buccaneers were not going to allow themselves to lose three games in a row, as they stopped a two-game skid by defeating the New York Giants at home in Week 11, 30-10. Tom Brady had over 300 passing yards on 30/46 completions and finished with two touchdown tosses and an interception. Even though the Bucs were missing Antonio Brown, Brady had it going in the air attack, with Mike Evans and Rob Gronkowski as his top targets. It remains uncertain when exactly Brown will return, but Brady seems to be fine as long as he’s got Evans, Gronk, and Chris Godwin downfield. The Bucs are tops in the NFL with 31.0 points per game and also no. 1 with 315.6 passing yards per contest. Defensively, Tampa Bay appears to be the team with the best chance of slowing down Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, as the Bucs are the best team statistically against the run this season.
The under is 4-1 in the Bucs’ last five games overall.
Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (+2)
Regular Season Record: 6-5
Don’t look now, but the Colts are over .500 following a 41-15 demolition job of a win against the Buffalo Bills last Sunday. Indianapolis is also entering Week 12 riding a three-game win streak, having defeated the New York Jets and the Jacksonville Jaguars prior to the Bills game. Beating the Jets and the Jags sure looked like gimmes for Indianapolis, but the victory against a serious Super Bowl contender in the Bills speaks volumes about how good Indianapolis has gotten after a slow start. Taylor has simply been amazing for the Colts. The running back exploded for five total touchdowns against Buffalo to go with 185 rushing yards on 32 carries. The Bucs will provide a tough test for Taylor, but then again, Taylor might be on such a roll that there’s nothing out there right now that can stop him. There’s also the Colts’ defense that has allowed just 32 points in Indianapolis’ last two games.
The Colts are 3-2 against the spread in their last five games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
The Colts win, 24-23.
