Record: 10-2 Overall / 7-1 Conference
It did not matter to Pittsburgh that last Saturday’s game against the Syracuse Orange had zero impact on the Panthers’ fate in the ACC. The Panthers walked into that contest and dominated the Orange from beginning to end on their way to a 31-14 victory on the road. Pittsburgh is now 4-0 straight up in its last four games, during which the Panthers have gone 3-1 against the spread. Quarterback Kenny Pickett continues to have a fantastic season, as he passed for 2019 yards and four touchdowns and an interception on 28/38 completions against Syracuse. Pickett entered that contest with 4,066 passing yards and seven interceptions this season. Behind Pickett’s exploits, Pittsburgh has managed to become the fifth-highest scoring team in the nation (39.7 points per game). Defensively, look for the Panthers’ pass rush to make things happen.
Pittsburgh, which is tops in the ACC with 46 sacks, is 6-0 in its last six games away from home.
Betting on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (+3)
Record: 10-2 Overall / 7-1 Conference
Wake Forest isn’t exactly limping into the ACC title game. The Demon Deacons are 2-2 in their last four games and are coming off a 41-10 demolition of the Boston College Eagles on the road last Saturday. Although Wake Forest’s defense hasn’t looked good over its past few games, what’s consistent is its offense that’s been racking up points all throughout the season. The Demon Deacons put up 55 points in a recent road loss to the North Carolina Tar Heels and 42 in the succeeding upset victory over the NC State Wolfpack. On the season, Wake Forest is the third nationally in scoring offense with 42.9 points per game. In other words, Wake Forest might not stop the Panthers’ offense, but the Demon Deacons can smell like trouble for any team.
Wake Forest is 4-0 against the spread in its last four games as the favorite.
Writer’s Prediction
Pittsburgh wins, 37-34.
