Syracuse is heading into the ACC tournament with some momentum, having snapped a four-game skid with a 72-63 win at home last Saturday against the same team the Orange will face this coming Wednesday. In that win over Wake Forest, the Orange leaned on the hot hands of Jesse Edwards, who dropped 27 points on 11/15 shooting from the field. Syracuse also had two other players scoring at least 16 points, while Wake Forest only had two scoring in double figures. The Orange’s defense was a problem for Wake Forest and it will look to be again in this coming matchup. On the season, Syracuse is No. 1 and No. 2 in ACC play in terms of defensive block rate and defensive steal rate, respectively.

Wake Forest can score the perfect revenge against Syracuse by dealing the Orange a loss on Wednesday. That is going to be easier said than done, but at least it’s very much possible. In their loss to the Orange last Saturday, the Demon Deacons had a slow start, allowing Syracuse to get to a 10-point lead at the half. However, Wake Forest woke up and played better basketball in the second half, even outscoring Syracuse in that frame, 34-33. Still watch out for Wake Forest for a stronger start in the rematch. After all, the Demon Deacons are a top-25 team in terms of scoring in the first half with 37.8 points average.
