Betting on the North Carolina Tar Heels (ODDS)
Record: 14-6 Overall/6-3 Conference
Armando Bacot is a monster for North Carolina, which will continue to rely on the big man for more success this season. Bacot is coming off a sensational performance in the Tar Heels’ 80-69 win in Chapel Hill against the NC State Wolfpack last Saturday in which he had a double-double of 23 points and 18 rebounds. With Syracuse coming right up for the Tar Heels, Bacot might go off again on the glass. The Orange are 113th in offensive rebound rate and 315th in defensive rebound rate. The Tar Heels have won all their last three games and five of their last six. The only blemish over that span was a 65-58 loss in Charlottesville to the Virginia Cavaliers. More possessions via rebounds for North Carolina will be dangerous for Syracuse, especially since the Tar Heels are 16th nationally with 115.4 points per 100 possessions adjusted.
North Carolina is 5-5 against the spread in its last 10 games.
Betting on the Syracuse Orange (ODDS)
Record: 13-7 Overall/6-3 Conference
Syracuse notched a 76-73 road win Saturday versus the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets to recover right away following an 82-78 road loss to the Miami Hurricanes. Joe Girard once again led the Orange, scoring 28 points with six 3-pointers knocked down. On the season, Girard is averaging 17.4 points per game with a 51.0 3FG% and 37.7 percent shooting from behind the arc. Hopefully for the Orange, Girard stays hot, but in any case, he will be stretching the defense of North Carolina and the floor for Syracuse, which is third in the ACC with 111.1 points per 100 possessions adjusted. The Orange have even gotten better offensively of late, having posted 111.8 points per 100 possessions unadjusted in their last 10 outings.
Syracuse is 6-4 against the spread in its last 10 games.
Writer’s Prediction
North Carolina wins, 74-70.
