Betting on the North Carolina Tar Heels (-8.0)
Record: 18-11 Overall/10-8 Conference
North Carolina is no longer in contention to win the ACC regular title, but the Tar Heels certainly could use a win to set themselves up nicely for an upcoming matchup versus bitter rivals Duke Blue Devils. The good news for North Carolina is that Florida State is one of the worst Power Five teams this season. In other words, they are expected to dominate this matchup down in Tallahassee. Speaking of which, North Carolina is 4-1-1 against the spread in its last six road games against the Seminoles, dating back to 2013. Moreover, the Tar Heels are 6-4 straight-up and 6-2-2 against the spread in their last 10 outings versus Florida State since 2015.
Betting on the Florida State Seminoles (+8.0)
Record: 9-20 Overall/7-11 Conference
Florida State is going to need a miracle to make it to March Madness, as they would have to win the ACC tournament, which just doesn’t look realistic given the way the Seminoles are faring this season. That being said, college basketball is a crazy world. Florida State’s size, particularly in the backcourt could get the team plenty of mismatches to take advantage. The Seminoles have a pair of 6-5 guards in Caleb Mills and Darin Green, who’ll be matched up against North Carolina’s starting backcourt duo of 6-0 RJ Davis and 6-4 Caleb Love.
Florida State has won all of its last three home games against the Tar Heels.
Writer’s Prediction
North Carolina wins, 84-70.
