Betting on the Rice Owls (ODDS)
Record: 15-8 Overall/6-6 Conference
The Owls suffered a 74-64 loss last Saturday at home at the hands of the North Texas Mean Green. That’s the third loss in a row for Rice, which was led by Mekhi Mason’s 17 points. Three other Rice starters scored in double figures against the Mean Green but the Owls’ bench coughed up just five points. Turnovers were also a big problem for Rice in that game, which is something the Owls will look to address against Florida Atlantic. Rice isn’t a bad offensive team, especially if you take away its turnovers. It is 32nd in the nation with a 53.9 effective field goal percentage and fourth in the C-USA with 51.6 eFG%.
Rice is 3-3 against the spread in its last six outings.
Betting on the Florida Atlantic Owls (ODDS)
Record: 22-2 Overall/12-1 Conference
After suffering its first loss in conference play when they were dealt with a 67-52 defeat by the UAB Blazers last Thursday on the road, Florida Atlantic did not waste time recovering, as it destroyed the Charlotte 49ers in Charlotte last Saturday, 67-52. Before losing to UAB, Florida Atlantic had one of the hottest runs in the nation, as they entered the UAB meeting on a 20-game win streak. Florida Atlantic is among the strongest mid-major teams, and it’s currently ranked 34th overall by KenPom – higher than Ohio State, North Carolina, and Duke. Sophomore wing Johnell Davis paces Florida Atlantic with 13.1 points per game while also shooting over 40 percent from deep.
Florida Atlantic is 6-2-1 against the spread in its last 10 games as the home team.
Writer’s Prediction
Florida Atlantic wins, 82-70.
