Betting on the Duke Blue Devils (ODDS)
Record: 22-8 Overall/13-6 Conference
Duke is coming off a 71-67 home win last Tuesday against the NC State Wolfpack. That’s the Blue Devils’ fifth win in a row, and during that stretch, they have also beaten the likes of the Syracuse Orange and the Virginia Tech Hokies. Duke has also already victimized the Tar Heels this season, beating its fierce rival at home early last month, 63-57. In that game, Duke held the Tar Heels to only 34.3 percent shooting from the field and also went to the foul line for 15 tries to just three by North Carolina. As of this writing, the Blue Devils are averaging 72.1 points per game and allowing only 64.0 points per contest.
Duke is 2-2 against the spread in its last four games.
Betting on the North Carolina Tar Heels (ODDS)
Record: 19-11 Overall/11-8 Conference
North Carolina has some significant momentum as well heading into this big-time showdown in Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels have won all their last three games, beating the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (63-59), the Virginia Cavaliers (71-63), and the Florida Stae Seminoles (77-66) in succession. The win over the Hoos speaks a lot about how determined still are the Tar Heels despite a shaky campaign. The Tar Heels are third in the ACC with 100.2 points allowed per 100 possessions adjusted and No. 2 in ORB%. They will look to get more free throws this time around, as North Carolina is tops in the ACC in free-throw attempts to field-goal attempts rate.
North Carolina is 6-4 against the spread in its last 10 games at home.
Writer’s Prediction
North Carolina wins, 72-70.
