Betting on the Florida Gators (odds)

Record: 22-1 Overall/10-0 Conference

Florida continues to roll. The Gators defeated the Georgia Bulldogs at home Wednesday, 72-63, to extend Mike White’s team’s win streak to four games. The Gators were on shaky ground in the second half of the Georgia game but came through with timely stops and baskets to avoid an upset. Florida was saved by its 3-point shooting, with the team hitting 12 threes to just five by the Bulldogs. Their defense at the rim also greatly helped, as the Gators rejected six Georgia shots. Rim protection has been a specialty of Florida this season in which the Gators’ defense is second in conference play with a 15.9 block rate. 6-11 senior Colin Castleton is the focal point of Florida’s attack and defense. He is averaging 15.5 points per game on 53.4 percent shooting from the field and is also 24th in the nation n block percentage. He is someone Florida is also looking to step up even more in this game, as he’ll mainly be assigned to try to slow down at least Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe, who’s been a monster in the paint this season.

Florida is 5-5 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.

Betting on the Kentucky Wildcats (odds)

Record: 20-4 Overall/9-2 Conference

Speaking of Tshiebwe, he once again came up with a monster performance, leading the Wildcats to an 86-76 road win over the South Carolina Gamecocks last Tuesday. Tshiebwe posted 18 points and 14 rebounds in 30 minutes. He’s been nearly automatic this season, and even with the talented Castleton in front of him this Saturday, he should still be able to deal heavy damage. Florida will still have to worry about the other talented pieces on this Kentucky team like TyTy Washington, Sahvir Wheeler, and Keon Brooks. Tshiebwe is No. 1 in the nation in defensive rebound rate, third n offensive rebound rate, while also shooting over 60 percent from the field. The Gators will have their hands full on both ends of the floor, given Kentucky’s excellence offensively and defensively. The Wildcats are both second overall in SEC play in terms of offensive and defensive efficiency.

The Over is 5-0 in Kentucky’s last five games overall.

Writer’s Prediction

Kentucky wins, 78-66.
