Betting on the Texas A&M Aggies (odds)

Record: 20-11 Overall/9-9 Conference

The Aggies are getting hot just in time for the 2022 SEC tournament. After a brutal eight-game losing skid from January to February, Texas A&M has gone 5-1 straight up, including winning all of its last four games. In their last outing, the Aggies took down the Mississippi State Bulldogs at home Saturday, 67-64. Even more impressive was their win before that, beating the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa on Mar. 2 to the tune of an 87-71 score. Over their current win streak, the Aggies have averaged 80.3 points on 52.8 percent shooting from the field, while holding opponents to only 69.5 points on 48.3 percent shooting. The Aggies have also defeated Florida, 56-55, at home back in February. In that game, Quenton Jackson led Texas A&M with 16 points. Jackson is the team’s leading scorer this season with 14.5 points per contest.

Texas A&M is 4-0 against the spread in its last four games overall.

Betting on the Florida Gators (odds)

Record: 19-12 Overall/9-9 Conference

Despite a valiant effort, Florida fell short in its goal to upset the Kentucky Wildcats at home last Saturday, falling prey to John Calipari’s squad to the tune of a 71-63 score. Oscar Tshiebwe was simply an unsolvable problem for Florida, but the good news for the Gators is that they won’t be dealing with him this Thursday. Center Colin Castleton held his own in the Kentucky game with 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Anthony Duruji came off the bench and fired 10 points. Florida can definitely rely on Castleton to deliver this Thursday. He had 15 points and 15 rebounds in the January loss to Texas A&M, but he’s going to need help definitely. The Gators are tops in the SEC with a 54.1 2-point percentage and also have the best non-steal turnover rate (7.1%) in the conference.

The Over is 3-1 in Florida’s last four games overall.

Writer’s Prediction

Florida wins, 67-65.
