Betting on the Florida Gators (+10.5)
Record: 2-1 Overall / 0-0 Conference
After suffering their first loss of the season on Sep. 10 against the Kentucky Wildcats, the Gators avoided getting upset Saturday by the South Florida Bulls. Florida did just enough to score a 31-28 home win against the Bulls despite the struggles of quarterback Anthony Richards. Richards went just 10/18 for 112 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions. The Gators should still trust Richardson, especially since he was under center when they upset the then-no. 7 Utah Utes in the opener in a 29-26 win.
The Over is 2-1 in Florida’s last three games.
Betting on the Tennessee Volunteers (-10.5)
Record: 3-0 Overall / 0-0 Conference
Tennessee kept its record unblemished three weeks into the season by destroying the Akron Zips in a 63-6 win in Knoxville over the weekend. Hendon Hooker passed for 298 yards and two touchdowns on 14/18 completions. His efficient performance under center was also helped by the presence of Jalin Hyatt downfield. Hyatt caught five passes from Hooker for 166 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Florida is going to be a tougher assignment for the Vols, but between them and the Gators, they are the ones looking like a much more cohesive unit.
Tennessee is 3-0 against the spread in its last three games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Tennessee wins, 27-23.
