Betting on the Los Angeles Kings (+1.5)

Regular Season Record: 43-31-8

Just when they looked like sitting ducks in the eyes of Edmonton, the Kings gathered enough strength to pull off a 4-0 win at home in Game 4. Jonathan Quick turned back the clock with a throwback playoff performance, stopping all 31 shots from the Oilers in Game 4. But it was not all just Quick on defense for the Kings, who came away with 19 blocks to just 12 by Edmonton. The Kings also outshot the Oilers, 46-31. Los Angeles has now outshot the Oilers in back-to-back games and has started to show better shooting efficiency. Trevor Moore, Phillip Danault, and Carl Grundstrom each have 2 goals in the series. That trio on the second line has been effective so far for the Kings, who still need the top line to keep up. Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe only have a goal and 3 assists in the first round.

The Kings are 6-4 in their last 10 road games.

Betting on the Edmonton Oilers (-1.5)

Regular Season Record: 49-27-6

Edmonton’s Game 4 loss was only the third time that the Oilers got shut out in a game since the 2021-22 NHL season started. In other words, count on the Oilers to wake up offensively in Game 5, Just still having the pair of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl is enough reason for the Oilers to feel confident in their chances to find their scoring touch again. Draisaitl has 3 goals and an assist so far in the series. McDavid only has a goal but has 5 assists. It’s Evander Kane, who’s been having a blast the most for the Oilers, with the controversial forward netting 5 goals in four games. Also look for Edmonton’s power play to make a difference. The Oilers went 0/3 on the man advantage in Game 4 but are 5/14 overall since the start of the playoffs.

The Oilers are 8-2 in their last 10 home games.

Writer’s Prediction

The Oilers win, 4-3.
