Regardless of what happened a year ago for Nadal at the 2021 French Open where he suffered a loss to Djokovic in the semis, the Spaniard will always be a force to reckon with on clay, especially at Roland Garros. Nadal is coming off a hard-fought win in the fourth round against Felix Auger-Aliassime in a match wherein he had to battle back after losing the first set. He took care of business eventually in five sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. There are injury concerns for Nadal will always be there, but so far, he’s been weathering all challenges, and outside of the match against Auger-Aliassime, he looked extremely superior to his opponents at the 2022 French Open. Nadal has also won three of the last four meetings with Djokovic.
Betting on the Novak Djokovic (-231)
The reigning French Open men’s singles champion is having little trouble so far in the tournament. In his last match, he disposed of 15th-seed Diego Schwartzman in three games, 6-1, 6-3, 6-3. Nadal feasted on Schwartzman’s errors and played his first serves so efficiently. He finished winning 74 percent of his first serves and also won 55 percent of his break points while denying all but one of Schwartzman’s chances to break serve. Djokovic will not have it easy against Nadal, but with the latter seemingly not in 100 percent form, Djokovic can capitalize on any signs of weakness from the former this Wednesday. So far this season, Djokovic is 10-3 on clay ATP clay-court matches and 253-62 all-time on that surface.
