After a thrilling 2022 US Open, the 2021-22 PGA TOUR season marches on to the next one, this time to the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut, where the 2022 Travelers Championship will be held. Check out our preview of this event below.
McIlroy finished the 2022 US Open with a T5, which came after he won the 2022 RBC Canadian Open. The Northern Irishman has two wins and seven top 10s so far this season. In his PGA TOUR career so far, McIlroy is 3 of 3 at TPC River Highlands, though he has yet to crack the top 10 there. His best finish at TPC River Highlands was 11th during the 2020 edition of the Travelers Championship.
Scheffler came close to winning yet another event this season when he finished with a T2 at the 2022 US Open. Nevertheless, he already has four wins in 19 starts to go with nine top 10s and 14 top 25s. Scheffer has made the cut in all of his last three starts, which also includes his runner-up finish at the 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge and a T18 at the 2022 RBC Canadian Open.
Thomas already has a win this season, having topped the field at the 2022 PGA Championship last May. He’s gone 2 of 3 since including a third-place at the 2022 RBC Canadian Open and a T37 in last week’s 2022 US Open. He is 11 of 16 with three top 3s and nine top 10s this season.

The 38-year-old Leishman is coming off a T14 at the US Open, which was a nice rebound for him following a missed cut at the 2022 Memorial Tournament presented by Workday. Among the six PGA TOUR victories under his belt so far in his career, one of them was a win at the 2012 Travelers Championship. Could Leishman weave his magic in the same tournament in the 10th year of his success there? Leishman enters this week’s tournament with three top 10s and eight top 25s and 15 made cuts in 18 starts on the season.

Steele is 8 of 11 so far in his career in tournaments played at TPC River Highlands. While he has yet to win there, Steele has a pair of top 10s on that course, including a sixth-place at the 20220 edition of the Travelers Championship and a fifth place at the 2015 Travelers Championship. As for his current form, he’s looking decent, having made the cut in all his last seven starts, a stretch that includes his T9 at the 2022 PGA Championship and T19 at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday.
