Betting on the Green Bay Packers (EVEN)
Regular Season Record: 1-1
The Packers will go to work Sunday coming off a 27-10 win at home over the Chicago Bears. That’s enough for them to feel good again after losing to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 on the road, 23-7. Aaron Rodgers played closer to MVP form in Week 2, passing for 234 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions on 19/25 completions, while also getting plenty of help from Aaron Jones, who had 132 rushing yards and two touchdowns overall. Jones and AJ Dillon could see some success again in Week 3 versus Tampa Bay’s defense against the run that allowed the New Orleans Saints to run for 5.0 yards per carry last Sunday.
The Packers are 10-3 against the spread in their last three games in October.
Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (EVEN)
Regular Season Record: 2-0
Tom Brady hasn’t been playing well so far this season, but the Buccaneers are still winning, thanks in large part to their defense. They have given up just 13 points total in the first two weeks of the season, and in their 20-10 win on the road over the Saints in Week 2, the Buccaneers sacked Jameis Winston six times and intercepted him three times. Through two weeks, the Buccaneers are second in the NFL in opponents’ pass completion rate (56.1%) and third in defensive sack rate (10.9%). That’s not good news for Rodgers, who has already absorbed seven sacks this season.
The Buccaneers are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games against NFC teams.
Writer’s Prediction
The Packers win, 24-20.
