Betting on the Kentucky Wildcats (+6.5)

Record: 4-0 Overall / 1-0 Conference

Kentucky averted disaster by beating the Northern Illinois Huskies at home last Saturday, 31-23, Needless to say, that was too close for comfort of a lead for Kentucky but at least Will Levis and company got the job done and made sure that the Wildcats will remain undefeated heading into the fifth week of the season. Levis passed for 303 yards and four touchdowns with zero interceptions on 18/26 completions while wideout Tayvion Robinson exploded for 147 receiving yards and two touchdowns on seven catches. Robinson and Dane Key have been terrific downfield for the Wildcats this season, making them a dangerous duo for Ole Miss’ defense that has been solid but not impenetrable.

Kentucky is 5-4-1 against the spread in its last 10 games.

Betting on the Ole Miss Rebels (-6.5)

Record: 4-0 Overall / 0-0 Conference

Ole Miss is still unblemished this season just like Kentucky, but this will just be the first time this year that the Rebels will be facing a conference opponent. They have great momentum, coming off a 35-27 victory over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in which the Rebels exploded for 28 points in the second quarter. That’s really all they needed to score a win, but some consistency spread across four quarters are still desired by head coach Lane Kiffin. Quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Quinshon Judkins had four touchdowns in the Tulsa game, but it could be Ole Miss’s defense that could star for the Rebels on Saturday. The Rebels entered the Tulsa matchup seventh in the nation with just 12.3 points allowed. Kentucky, on the other hand, allowed Northern Illinois’ defense to get to rack up five sacks.

Ole Miss is 5-5 against the spread in its last 10 games.

Writer’s Prediction

Ole Miss wins, 30-24.
