Betting on the Kansas State Wildcats (odds)
Record: 18-3 Overall/6-2 Conference
Kansas State is back up. Following an 80-76 home loss to the Iowa State Cyclones. The Wildcats have now won three of their last four games, and that, of course, includes their scintillating 83-82 upset win at home over Kansas on Jan. 17. In that game, Keyontae Johnson exploded for 24 points, while Desi Sills came off the bench and fired 21 points. Kansas hasn’t been any much better since, so the Wildcats could be playing a still-wobbly Kansas squad. On the season, Johnson is averaging a team-best 18.0 points per game, while Markquis Nowell is second with 16.9 points per outing. Nowell nearly had a triple-double in the Florida game, stuffing the stat sheets with 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists.
Kansas State is 8-2 against the spread in its last 10 games.
Betting on the Kansas Jayhawks (odds)
Record: 17-4 Overall/5-3 Conference
The Jayhawks are finally out of a slump, as they stopped a three-game losing skid by downing the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington on Saturday, 77-68. Jalen Wilson led a balanced attack for the Jayhawks, who shot 49.2 percent from the field and outrebounded Kentucky 34-29. Wilson, who is averaging 21.4 points per game this season, had 22 points on 9/18 shooting versus Kentucky. Wilson spells trouble for Kansas State, which couldn’t do much to slow down the junior forward. Wilson erupted for 38 points on 12/25 shooting in the first meeting against the Wildcats. The Jayhawks might just be back, and it’s not good news for Kansas State, which plays Kansas in Lawrence.
The Under is 6-4 in Kansas’ last 10 games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Kansas wins, 81-70.
