Herndon Hooker was back in form after the loss to Georgia, passing for 355 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions on 25/36 completions against Mizzou. He also rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. There’s not a lot that Hooker can’t do on the field, and the dual-threat quarterback can have his way again in Week 12 versus South Carolina, which doesn’t seem to have the defense to slow down Tennessee from beginning to end and one that just allowed nearly 40 points to Florida. The Vols, on the other hand, are averaging over 40 points per game and more than 500 total yards per contest.
Tennessee is 8-2 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.
Betting on the South Carolina Gamecocks (+22.0)
Record: 6-4 Overall / 3-4 Conference
The Gamecocks are bowl eligible but if they want a much more prestigious bowl invite, they have to win some more games. Taking down a giant like Tennessee will be a tremendous boost, That is going to be easier said than done, though, for the Gamecocks, who moved the chains for just 237 total yards against the Gators. Nevertheless, South Carolina is a much better offensive team than what the score suggests. They walked into the Florida game averaging 28.8 points per outing. The Gamecocks clearly need to wake up their rushing attack that coughed up negative yardage against the Gators. They are 5-0 when they rush over 100 yards in a game this season.
South Carolina is 5-5 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Tennessee wins, 43-9.
