Betting on the Florida Gators (+10.0)
Record: 6-6 Overall/3-5 Conference
Florida has lost its last two games, the latest being a 45-38 defeat at the hands of No. 16 the Florida State Seminoles. Prior to that, the Gators lost to the Vanderbilt Commodors, 31-24. It’s important to note here that Florida will not have star quarterback Anthony Richardson for this game, having already declared for the 2022 NFL Draft. Walk-on Kyle Engel could find himself starting for the Gators, but given his lack of experience, Florida will rely more on their running backs, particualrly Montrell Johnson Jr. and Trevor Etienne, who have rushed for a combined 16 touchdowns this season.
Florida is 4-0 against the spread in its last four games after a loss.
Betting on the Oregon State Beavers (-10.0)
Record: 9-3 Overall/6-3 Conference
Unlike the Gators, Oregon State is on a roll. The Beavers have won all their last three games, and even defeated the No. 9 Oregon Ducks, 38-34, in their last outing. Oregon State has a top 50 scoring offeense and a top 20 scoring defense. With Florida not expected to play Richardson, the Beavers, particularly their offense, will be getting a major bonus. Florida’s offense should also be easier to predict for Oregon State. The Gators are likely to run the ball, but they will have to deal with Oregon State’s defense that is third in the nation in stopping the run. The Beavers are allowing just 28.1 rushing yards per game.
Oregon State 6-0 against the spread in its last six games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Oregon State wins, 37-24.
