The Panthers have momentum going into the rematch against Tampa Bay. Carolina was the one to stop the rampaging Detroit Lions, with the Panthers eking out a 37-23 win at home over the NFC North team last Saturday. They have now won two of their last three games. Carolina is also 3-1 straight up since Sam Darnold took over as the team’s starter again. The backfield duo of D’Onta Foreman and Chubba Hubbard combined for 290 of the Panthers’ 320 rushing yards. The two running backs could be trouble anew for Tampa Bay, which struggled to contain them in the Panthers’ 21-3 home win over the Buccaneers back in Week 7. Defensively, Carolina knows it can dominate the Buccaneers, considering the success it had in the first meeting with Tom Brady and company. In that game, the Buccaneers went just 2/12 on third downs.

Tampa Bay pulled off an important 19-16 overtime win Sunday night over the Arizona Cardinals on the road in Week 16. Tom Brady was far from efficient with his performance, as he went 32/48 for 281 passing yards and a touchdown with two interceptions, but his offensive line held up well, with the quarterback not getting sacked at any point of the contest. The Buccaneers have one of the best – if not the best – pass protections in the NFL, and that could play a big role in Week 17 versus Carolina, which entered Week 16 just 26th in the NFL in terms of defensive sack rate. Mike Evans, who only had 29 receiving yards in the win over Arizona, could recover right away in Week 17 against Carolina, which allowed him to rack up 96 receiving yards on nine catches in the first meeting.
The Buccaneers are 3-1 against the spread in their last four home games versus the Panthers.
