Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (+5.5)
Regular Season Record: 4-10-1
The Colts are coming off a brutal 20-3 home loss to the Los Angeles Chargers Monday night in Week 16. It’s not really a surprising result for a team that clearly looks to be going nowhere. The Colts tried to make a quarterback switch with Nick Foles starting over Matt Ryan, but they still couldn’t get anything going on offense. The Giants might feel too confident over the prospect of potentially beating a lowly Indianapolis team, and if that’s the case, look for the Colts to pounce on that. They still have great playmakers in Michael Pittman and Parris Campbell plus an emerging star in Jelani Woods.
The Colts are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven road games versus a team with a winning home record.
Betting on the New York Giants (-5.5)
Regular Season Record: 8-6-1
New York has been wobbly of late. They are 1-4-1 in their last six games. The last time they were on the field, they absorbed a 27-24 defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings on the road last Saturday. That being said, New York is very much capable of taking care of business against a team like Indianapolis that just looks so lackluster and devoid of energy to fight. The Colts don’t have their best offensive weapon anymore with running back Jonathan Taylor on the injured reserve. Meanwhile, the Giants still have the spectacular Saquon Barkley, who just rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown to go with 49 receiving yards on eight catches in the Vikings game. New York’s defense is also looking forward to eating a lot in the Colts game after seeing Indy’s offensive line give up six sacks in Week 16.
The Giants are 6-0 against the spread in their last six games after a loss.
Writer’s Prediction
The Giants win, 21-10.
