Betting on the San Francisco 49ers (-6.0)
Regular Season Record: 11-4
The 49ers are scary. They’re probably even scarier now than when they still have Jimmy Garoppolo healthy. With Brock Purdy as the starter, the Niners have yet to lose. They are 3-0 in three games with Purdy starting and 4-0 since he subbed for the injured Garopppolo in Week 13’s home win against the Miami Dolphins. In their last game, San Francisco ate the Washington Commanders alive in a 37-20 victory at home in Week 16. The Raiders, who struggled to beat the troubled Pittsburgh Steelers last Saturday, are looking prime to get victimized by the high-powered 49ers, who are averaging 25.0 points per game and allowing only 15.3 points per contest.
The 49ers are 6-0 against the spread in their last six games after a win.
Betting on the Las Vegas Raiders (+6.0)
Regular Season Record: 6-9
The Raiders suffered yet another collapse and painful loss in Week 16, falling prey to the Steelers on the road, 13-10. Las Vegas’ defense did its assignment for the most part of the game, but Derek Carr and the Raiders’ offense were anemic. Carr passed for 174 yards and a touchdown with three interceptions. He was also sacked three times for a loss of 31 yards. All that being said, the Raiders are a team that can put up points in a hurry. Carr can be erratic but he can surprise from time to time with a massive performance. Running back Josh Jacobs is arguably the best tailback in the NFL today, while Davante Adams remains a lethal downfield threat.
The Raiders, who are putting up 23.2 points per game, are 5-0 against the spread versus a team with a winning record.
Writer’s Prediction
The 49ers win, 24-13.
