Betting on the Kansas State Wildcats (+2.0)
Record: 23-8 Overall/11-7 Conference
Kansas State finished the regular season with a disappointing 89-81 road loss to the West Virginia Mountaineers on Mar. 4, but the Wildcats were pretty hot prior to that. The Wildcats carried a four-game win streak into that contest, including a pair of wins against the Iowa State Cyclones and the Baylor Bears, who are both March Madness-bound. Kansas State also won the last meeting it had with the Horned Frogs, taking an 82-61 victory at home on Feb. 7 to successfully avenge its 82-68 loss to the Horned Frogs in Fort Worth back in January. While their defense did not look good in the January meeting with TCU, the Wildcats made sure the Horned Frogs know all about it in the second showdown, with TCU posting just a 46.5 eFG%.
Kansas State, 15th in the nation in adjusted defensive efficiency, is 4-1 against the spread in its last five games overall.
Betting on the TCU Horned Frogs (-2.0)
Record: 20-11 Overall/9-9 Conference
Like the Wildcats, TCU ended its regular-season schedule with a loss, as the Horned Frogs fell prey to the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman last Saturday. That was a big downer for the Horned Frogs, as a game prior, they scored a massive home win against the Texas Longhorns, 75-73. Nevertheless, the Horned Frogs remain a force to reckon with. TCU isn’t much of a 3-point shooting team, but it wreaks havoc inside of the arc most of the time. The Horned Frogs are No. 1 in the Big 12 in a 2-point shooting percentage. Defending against 2-pointers isn’t a strength of Kansas State, so that’s something the Horned Frogs can exploit anew just like in the first meeting. When they defeated Kansas State, the Horned Frogs went 30/52 on their 2-pointers.
TCU is 3-0-1 against the spread in its last four Thursday games.
Writer’s Prediction
Kansas State wins, 75-72.
