Betting on the Los Angeles Angels (+1.5)

Regular Season Record: 30-27

The Angels are coming off a series win against the Chicago White Sox on the road. Los Angeles took Games 1 and 2 of that series, winning the third one on Wednesday, 12-5. They will look to sustain their form when they start Reid Detmers in the series opener against Houston. Detmers is winless in nine starts this season and has a 4.93 ERA and 1.53 WHIP. That being said, he has not allowed more than three earned runs in each of his last four starts, while pitching for at least five innings in three of those contests. Mike Trout and Brandon Drury will look to carry the offense of the Halos. Trout has hit ,292 with five home runs in his last 13 games, while Drury batted .302 and smacked two home runs in his last 12.

The Angels are 15-14 in road games this season.

Betting on the Houston Astros (-1.5)

Regular Season Record: 32-23

The Astros will look to get back to winning ways after absorbing an 8-2 loss at the hands of the Minnesota Twins last Wednesday to close out a three-game series which they lost as well, two games to one. Nevertheless, they have great hope that they will be able to conquer the Angels later tonight. For one, they will have Framber Valdez starting. Valdez dominated the Angels from the mound on May 9, pitching eight innings of one-run ball while allowing just three hits and striking out 12 LA hitters. On the season, Valdez has a 5-4 record and 2.38 ERA along with a 1.04 WHIP.

The Astros are 15 -13 at home this season.

Writer’s Prediction

The Astros win, 6-3.
