Betting Preview for the Miami Heat vs Denver Nuggets NBA Finals Game 2 on June 4, 2023

Line: Miami Heat (+8.5) vs. Denver Nuggets (-8.5) – view all 2020-21 NBA lines

TV Broadcast: ESPN

Betting on the Miami Heat (+8.5)

Regular Season Record: 44-38

The Heat are going to need bigger guns in Game 2. Their offense simply was not at the level it needed to be to upset Denver on the road in the series opener. Jimmy Butler only scored 13 points, making just six of 14 attempts from the field. Miami also only had two free-throw attempts. The Heat will have to increase that, which means challenging Denver’s interior defense more than settling for pull-ups and 3-point attempts. Miami shot 13/39 from the 3-point area in Game 1, with Max Strus going 0/10. There’s no way but up for the Heat’s outside shooting as well.

The Heat are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games after a loss.

Betting on the Denver Nuggets (-8.5)

Regular Season Record: 53-29

Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray were incredible in Game 1. Who’s to say they can’t be again in Game 2? Jokic posted a triple-double of 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 14 assists in Game 1, while Murray carved up Miami’s defense for 26 points on 11/22 shooting to go with 10 assists and six rebounds. What makes those two hard to defend for the Heat is their passing ability and the fact that they are surrounded by a quality supporting cast, including the pair of Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr, who combined for 30 points in the series opener. The Nuggets are averaging 115.6 points on 49.1 FG% in the playoffs.

Denver is 5-1 against the spread in their last six games after a win of more than 10 points.

Writer’s Prediction

The Nuggets win, 112-101.
