[sc:Football ]Four High-Value Pick-Ups in 2014 NFL Fantasy Football Draft
1. Tim Wright (Tight End, New England Patriots)
[sc:NFL240banner ]Head coach Bill Belichick pulled off a big move a week before the start of the new season by trading Pro Bowl guard Logan Mankins to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in exchange for a draft pick and tight end Tim Wright. The move has prompted speculation that the Patriots are wary about the health of their starting tight end Rob Gronkowski. If Gronk’s injury concerns continue to linger this season, that will be very great news for fantasy owners of Tim Wright.
Wright impressed in his debut for the Patriots as he caught four passes for 43 yards in their preseason finale against the New York Giants. With the guidance of Belichick, Tim Wright can become a valuable asset for the Pats this year.
2. Ryan Tannehill (Quarterback, Miami Dolphins)
One of the key reasons behind the Dolphins’ spirited charge last season was the play of their quarterback Ryan Tannehill. He threw for 3,913 yards last season, up from his output of 3,294 yards in his rookie year. Still, the onus is on Tannehill to further improve this season and end the Dolphins’ five-year barren run.
With Bill Lazor hired as the new offensive coordinator of the Dolphins, the chances of that happening has definitely increased. Lazor was the quarterbacks coach of the Philadelphia Eagles last season and he helped QB Nick Foles set record-breaking numbers including his 119.0 passer rating mark which was the third-best mark in the history of the NFL.
If Lazor can help Tannehill just like he did with Foles last year, then watch out, Tannehill may be due for a breakout season this year.
3. Khiry Robinson (Running Back, New Orleans Saints)
He may only have 224 rushing yards in his career so far but things are about to change for the 25-year-old New Orleans running back. With Darren Sproles now plying his trade in New Orleans, Robinson has emerged as one of Drew Brees’ main targets this season.
He is now no. 2 in the depth chart behind Mark Ingram and with continued consistency can adopt the Sproles role for himself this season.
4. Justin Hunter (Wide Receiver, Tennessee Titans)
With Ken Whisenhunt on board as the new Titans head coach, a huge season is expected from the second-year wideout. Jake Locker should excel in Whisenhunt’s passing scheme, meaning there will be plenty of opportunities for the 23-year-old to excel and make a name for himself this season.
Hunter averaged 19.7 yards per catch last season including four touchdowns and those numbers are expected to go even higher this year with Hunter being given the primary big-play receiver role in 2014. In fact this preseason, he finished second among wide receivers in receiving yards with 217, just behind Jacksonville’s Allen Hurns. Owners will be hopeful he can translate that form into the real season which starts just days from now.
