Time to make some money off baseball. Below are five games that are the best baseball games to bet on today.
Alex Cobb was dazzling the last time he stepped on the mound against the New York Yankees, but a whack job by the Tampa Bay Rays’ bullpen put all of the right-hander’s effort to waste. Will Cobb come up with another strong outing? Or will the Yankees find a way to notch a win? Find out who we are picking in this game and in four more below.

Washington Nationals vs. Atlanta Braves (7:00 PM ET)
Line: Washington Nationals (+115) Atlanta Braves (-125); total: 6.5 – see all MLB lines
[sc:MLB240banner ]The skid isn’t over yet for the Braves, who are now 0-5 in their last five games. A light at the end of the tunnel might be in store for Atlanta tonight, though, when it takes on Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzales (8-10, 3.79 ERA).The Braves have a commanding 8-0 record in the last eight times they faced Gonzales. Washington, meanwhile, are looking to improve its league-best 87-63 record. The Nationals are 4-0 in their last four games and 4-1 in their last five meetings with Atlanta.
Writer’s prediction: Washington wins.
Toronto Blue Jays vs. Baltimore Orioles (7:05 PM ET)
Line: Toronto Blue Jays (+110) at Baltimore Orioles (-120); total: 8.0– see all MLB lines
History was made last night when the Orioles locked up their first American League East division title in 17 years with an 8-2 win over Toronto. Baltimore now looks to sweep the Blue Jays, whom the O’s have beaten in all of their last three meetings. To do that, the O’s must get over J.A. Happ (9-10, 4.28 ERA), who has a 1-2 record with a 2.32 ERA in five career starts against Baltimore.
Writer’s prediction: Baltimore wins.

Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals (8:10 PM ET)
Line: Chicago White Sox (-101) at Kansas City Royals (-109); total: 6.5 – see all MLB lines
The White Sox will start Chris Sale (12-3, 1.99 ERA), who’ll be a headache for Kansas City, which is precariously holding on to the American League’s second wild card slot. Chicago is 2-0 in Sale’s two starts this season against the Royals, including the White Sox’s 3-1 win on July 21 in which the lefty allowed just one earned run and struck out eight in seven innings of work. As for the Royals, they’ll have Yordano Ventura (12-10, 3.27 ERA). The Royals are 7-3 in Ventura’s last 10 games overall.
Writer’s prediction: Kansas City wins.
New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays (7:10 PM ET)
Line: New York Yankees (+135) at Tampa Bay Rays (-150); total: 6.5– see all MLB lines
The Yankees are set to face Alex Cobb (9-7, 2.75 ERA), who nearly no-hit the Bronx Bombers in his most recent outing, albeit in a 5-4 Tampa Bay loss. The blown no-hitter bid however fails to diminish the brilliance of Cobb’s 7-1 record with a 0.92 ERA over his last 14 starts. The Yankees will counter Cobb with Brandon McCarthy (6-4, 2.54 ERA), who is coming off an impressive outing against the hard-hitting Baltimore Orioles. McCarthy threw seven scoreless innings in that game, giving up just four hits and striking out six batters, but failed to get a win as the Yankees lost 2-1, no thanks to New York’s inept offense.
Writer’s prediction: Tampa Bay wins.
Seattle Mariners vs. Los Angeles Angels (10:00 PM ET)
Line: Seattle Mariners (+110) at Los Angeles Angels (-120); total: 8.0– see all MLB lines
James Paxton (6-2, 1.83 ERA) is set to face the Angels a day after Seattle gave them a taste of their own medicine via a 13-2 victory. Paxton will try to hold off the Angels anew, as he is 2-0 with an ERA of 2.25 in two starts against them thus far this season. The Angels, on the other hand, will give the ball to C.J. Wilson (12-9, 4.61). The Angels are 9-1 in Wilson’s last 10 home starts.
Writer’s prediction: Los Angeles wins.
