[sc:MLB240banner ]The Kansas City Royals will look to clinch their first World Series berth in 29 years when they host the Baltimore Orioles later today in Game 4 of the ALCS. The Royals will start Jason Vargas who posted a solid 3.71 ERA in 187 innings pitched this past regular season.
In his previous postseason start, Vargas limited the Angels to just two runs and three hits in six innings of action as he led the Royals to a thrilling 3-2 11-inning win in Game 1 of the ALDS. This time around he has an opportunity to finish the ALCS but standing in his way is Orioles starter Miguel Gonzales.
Although he last pitched back in September 28, Gonzales can take heart in the fact that he pitched really well towards the end of the regular season. He finished with a 4-2 record with an ERA of 1.62 in his last six starts.
The Royals continue to be the story of these playoffs, having won a ridiculous six-straight games starting with the Wild Card play-in game. The Orioles are 2-3 in their last five games on the road. Read our full preview of this game here.
