Following shortly thereafter is the much-anticipated clash between the Houston Astros and the Cleveland Indians.

The Pittsburgh Pirates stretched their unbeaten run to five games with a thrilling 5-2 win over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday. With the victory, the Pirates completed their 10th series sweep of the season which ties their club record.
[sc:MLB240banner ]They will look to keep the momentum going tonight when they take on the St. Louis Cardinals. Starting for Pittsburgh tonight is Jeff Locke (5-4, 4.15 ERA). He was phenomenal in his last start for the Pirates, throwing eight innings of shutout ball in Pittsburgh’s 1-0 victory over the Cleveland Indians on July 4. The Bucs have now won four of their last five games with Locke as their starter.
The Cards, on the other hand, will counter with right-hander Carlos Martinez (9-3, 2.70 ERA). He allowed just one run on eight hits and two walks over 6.2 innings, while striking out five in St. Louis’ 2-1 win over the San Diego Padres on July 5. The Cards have won eight of their last nine games with the hard-throwing Martinez on the mound.

Houston Astros vs. Cleveland Indians (7:10 PM ET)

The Houston Astros stumbled to their second straight defeat Wednesday with a disappointing 4-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians. The Astros will look to salvage a series split tonight when they square off with the Indians again in the final game of their four-game set.
Starting for the Astros tonight is Brett Oberholtzer (2-1, 4.32 ERA). He struggled mightily in his last start, allowing six runs on four hits and three walks in just 1.1 innings of action in Houston’s 9-6 loss to the New York Yankees. The Astros have lost three of their last five outings with Oberholtzer as their starter.
Cleveland, on the other hand, will have Cody Anderson (1-1, 0.76 ERA) on the mound tonight. Anderson is the first Indians pitcher since at least 1914 to log at least 7.2 innings in each of his first three career starts with the club. Anderson has allowed a total of just two earned runs in his first three outings for Cleveland.
