Line: Golden State Warriors at Memphis Grizzlies – view all NBA lines
The Golden State Warriors extended their winning streak to eight games with a convincing 109-95 victory over the Detroit Pistons Monday night. Five players scored in double-figures for the Warriors, who remain the league’s only undefeated team this season.
[sc:NBA240banner ]They will look to match the 1960-61 Philadelphia Warriors for the best start to a season when they square off with the Memphis Grizzlies later tonight. For Golden State to accomplish that feat, it needs a much better showing from Stephen Curry.
The reigning MVP scored a season-low 22 points in the win against Detroit. However, he will fancy his chances of regaining his scoring form against the Grizzlies, whom he torched for 30 points in a resounding 119-69 victory on November 2.
Memphis’ losing woes continued on Monday as the Grizzlies suffered a gut-wrenching 94-92 defeat to the Los Angeles Clippers. Marc Gasol missed a game-tying free throw in the dying seconds to send Memphis to its third consecutive defeat. For the Grizzlies to snap their losing skid tonight, they will need to improve their play on the defensive end. The Warriors shot 51.2 percent from the field and knocked down 11 3-pointers against them in their last matchup.
The Grizzlies are 6-4 SU and 4-6 ATS in their last 10 home games against the Warriors.
Writer’s Prediction
The Grizzlies upset the Warriors, 99-91.
San Antonio Spurs vs. Portland Trail Blazers (10:30 PM ET)
Line: San Antonio Spurs at Portland Trail Blazers – view all NBA lines
The San Antonio Spurs stretched their unbeaten run to two games with an emphatic 106-88 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Monday. Kawhi Leonard scored 24 points to lead the Spurs, who are now tied for second in the hotly-contested Western Conference with a 5-2 slate.
The Spurs will look to sustain the momentum of that huge win when they face the reeling Blazers tonight. All eyes will be on LaMarcus Aldridge as he returns to Portland for the first time since leaving the franchise in free agency over the summer. He is still working his way into the Spurs offense, averaging 15.1 points on a career-low 45.7 percent shooting in his first seven games with San Antonio.
Aldridge will be licking his chops at the prospect, though, of facing a Portland defense that has struggled mightily in its last two games. The Blazers surrendered a total of 228 points in their last two losses to Detroit and Denver. That defensive performance simply won’t do against a San Antonio side that’s averaging 102.3 PPG this season, 12th-best in the NBA. The good news for Portland is that Damien Lillard has been playing spectacular basketball of late. He’s averaging 30.4 points in the Blazers’ last five games.
The Blazers are 7-3 SU and 6-4 ATS in their last 10 home games against the Spurs.
Writer’s Prediction
San Antonio wins, 102-97. Create a betting account now and bet on the best games for tonight.
