Uh oh. It doesn’t look good for the Grizzlies at the moment, with Ja Morant apparently suffering a knee injury that may keep him out of Game 4 – at least. There’s no official word yet as of this writing with regards to Morant’s status for the next game, but if he can’t go, there will be a massive drop in the ceiling of the Grizzlies. However, the Grizzlies have one of the best backup point guards in the Tyus Jones. He’s not Morant, but Jones has repeatedly shown dependability. With Dillon Brooks set to return from a one-game suspension, the Grizzlies will have one of their top weapons back to go along with Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson, and Brandon Clarke, who will have to recover from a disastrous Game 3 performance, as he was a minus-24 in just 17 minutes. Even if they don’t have Morant, the Grizzlies still pack a punch, capable of playing greater than the sum of their parts.
The Grizzlies are 11-2 against the spread in their last 13 games on a Monday.
Betting on the Golden State Warriors (-9)
Regular Season Record: 53-29
The Warriors are smelling blood. Stephen Curry scored 30 points on the strength of a 14/14 shooting from the foul line, while Jordan Poole came off the bench and fired 27 points on 11/17 shooting from the floor. Klay Thompson recaptured his rhythm and scored 31 points on 8/13 shooting. With their top guns feeling good, the Warriors are not a pretty team to deal with for a unit like the Grizzlies that might not have its most important player on Monday. With or without Morant on the Grizzlies lineup in Game 4, the Warriors have all the confidence in the world that they can build on their explosive Game 3 showing. Jonathan Kuminga’s insertion into the starting five was a success, as the young gun had 18 points on 8/10 shooting, so look for him to get another chance to start.
The Warriors are 6-1 against the spread in their last 7 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Warriors win, 124-112.
