MLB: St. Louis Cardinals vs. Boston Red Sox (8 PM ET)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cardinals RH Michael Wacha (3-0, 0.43 ERA) vs. Red Sox RH John Lackey (2-0, 3.00) [sc:MLB240banner ]

The St. Louis Cardinals got nervous on the field during the first game of the World Series and were doomed by errors in the loss. The Cardinals will look to make up from those mistakes when they go back to Fenway to face Boston Red Sox for Game 2. The Red Sox are riding a nine-game World Series winning streak and charged to an early lead in Game 1.

Odds: St. Louis (+110) vs. Boston (-120), O/U: (7.0)

Since Adam Wainwright didn’t work out, the Cardinals are turning to their other ace, Michael Wacha. The NLCS MVP has delivered for the Cards, who are 4-0 in Wacha’s last four starts. However, the Red Sox also have another ace in John Lackey, as the Red Sox are 5-1 in Lackey’s last 6 starts.

NFL: Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8:30 PM ET)

Cam Newton has turned the corner for the Carolina Panthers, who now have a chance to go .500 for the first time since 2008 as they prepare to visit the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night. The Panthers have won three of four and a victory Thursday would give them a winning record, something that hasn’t occurred in Newton’s career.

Meanwhile in Tampa, an already-bleak season took another turn for the worse for the Buccaneers on Monday when it was revealed that second-year running back Doug Martin will be sidelined indefinitely with a torn labrum in his shoulder, and could be done for the season. That puts more pressure on rookie quarterback Mike Glennon, who will be making his fourth career start.

Odds: Carolina (-6.5) vs. Tampa Bay (+6.5), O/U: 40.5

The Panthers are on the roll lately, and that’s more likely to continue against a winless team since they are 5-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record. However, the Bucs beat these Cat Scratchers twice last year, both straight-up and against-the-spread.
