Team Strengths:

Hampton’s metrics on offense or defense do not jump on you, but the one quality that gets anybody’s attention is the Pirates’ rebounding. With a crew of tenacious individuals on the glass, the Pirates are able to average 41.3 boards per game, which is seventh in the nation. Their offensive rebounding in particular is among the elites, as the Pirates collect 11.8 ORPG, 11^th overall. The Pirates are being led by their backcourt pair of Reginald Johnson and Quinton Chievous, who average 18.3 and 17.0 points per game, respectively. Chievous is a big 6-6 guard who likes to bully his matchups and get lots of points inside. In fact, Chievous gets 13.9 percent of his shots off putbacks. He can be a big thorn in the side of any opposing teams, especially those with small guards.

The Pirates need to polish their shooting accuracy if they plan to move beyond the first round of the tournament.
