Betting on the Seton Hall Pirates (ODDS)
Record: 17-14 Overall/10-10 Conference
The Pirates struggled near the end of the regular season. However, that is not a reason to underestimate Seton Hall. After all, this is still a team that has managed to record wins at the expense of the likes of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights ad the Memphis Tigers. Moreover, the Pirates have one of the best defenses in the Big East, as it ended the regular season top 5 in the conference in terms of adjusted defensive efficiency. DePaul knows all about that because the Blue Demons did not shoot better than 45 percent from the field in either meeting with Seton Hall back in the regular season. Seton Hall’s rim protection, is a major asset of the team on defense, as it’s No. 1 in the Big East in defensive block rate.
Betting on the DePaul Blue Demons (ODDS)
Record: 9-22 Overall/3-17 Conference
The only way the Blue Demons will make it to the NCAA tournament is if they win the Big East tourney, so expect this team to go all out on Wednesday versus Seton Hall. While DePaul has already lost twice to the Pirates this season, both games were decided by five points or fewer. Despite all their struggles this season, the Blue Demons must still feel that they stand a good chance of defeating Seton Hall this coming Wednesday. DePaul leading scorer Umoja Gibson will have to set the pace for DePaul, while Javan Johnson will also have to chip in ample support on offense, especially. Gibson had 21 points in the second meeting with the Pirates, while Johnson missed all of his nine shots from the field for zero points. As the owner of the second-highest scoring average on the team, Johnson can be expected to be better this time around.
Writer’s Prediction
Seton Hall wins, 70-60.
