Betting on the Seton Hall Pirates (odds)
Record: (15-11 Overall/8-7 Conference
Seton Hall will look to end a two-game losing skid when it takes on the Georgetown Hoyas this Tuesday. The Pirates are coming off losses to the Creighton Bluejays and to the Villanova Wildcats on Feb. 8 and Feb. 11, respectively. The Pirates took down UConn at home on Jan. 18 to the tune of a 67-66 score. Kadary Richmond led Seton Hall in that game with 18 points, while KC Ndefo had 14 points and 8 rebounds. Although Seton Hall is averaging just 68.0 points per game, its defense is among the best in the nation, ranking second as of this writing overall with a 93.3 adjusted defensive efficiency.
Seton Hall is 6-3-1 against the spread in its last 10 games overall. The Under is 8-2 in those games as well.
Betting on the Connecticut Huskies (odds)
Record: 19-7 Overall/8-7 Conference
The Huskies saw their three-game win streak end last Saturday, as they lost to the Creighton Bluejays on the road, 56-53. Prior to that, UConn defeated the DePaul Blue Demons, Georgetown Hoyas, and the Marquette Golden Eagles in succession. The win over Marquette was a big one for Huskies as that was against a Top 25 opponent. UConn now turns its attention to Seton Hall, as the Huskies look for payback. In the first meeting with the Pirates, the Huskies shot just 39.3 percent from the floor and committed 18 turnovers. They have been better since, though, in those areas.
The Huskies, who are both top 40 in the nation in scoring points (78.6) and in scoring defense (64.7), are 3-1 against the spread in their last four games overall. The Over is 6-4 in those contests.
Writer’s Prediction
UConn wins, 73-61.
