Florida State vs Clemson – ACC Rivals in Rare Showdown

Betting on College Football: Florida State Seminoles vs. Clemson Tigers

The eyes of the college football-watching world will be set squarely on the battle of two Top 5-ranked teams featuring two Heisman Trophy candidate quarterbacks with potential national championship implications. And no, it’s not USC-Notre Dame.

This epic showdown is between #5 Florida State and #3 Clemson, which will be only the fourth time ever that two ACC teams in the top-5 will play against each other.

The winner of this titanic match-up will most likely represent the Atlantic Division in the ACC championship game, and a game-winning performance from either the Seminoles’ Jameis Winston or the Tigers’ Tajh Boyd will only strengthen his case for the Heisman Trophy.

Betting on Florida State

Jameis Winston made the greatest first impression possible in Week 1 against Pitt, where he went 25/27 for 356 yards and 4 TDs. The redshirt freshman has not looked back since his epic debut and has led the #5 ranked Seminoles to a sparkling 5-0 record.

Winston has proceeded to run the 3rd most potent offense in the FBS (53.6 points/game) like a seasoned pro, which has earned him a lot of early Heisman buzz. His 73.2% completion percentage is tied with reigning Heisman Johnny Manziel for 2nd best in college football and his 17 touchdowns are tied for fifth with fellow Heisman hopeful Marcus Mariota.

Overshadowed by Winston’s great play this season has been the Noles’ stellar defense. The unit is giving up a miniscule 12 points/game, 3rd best in the FBS. They are also 7th in total yards (277 yards/game), including the 2nd best pass defense at 149 yards/game.

The Seminoles are coming off an outstanding all-around performance in their 63-0 demolition of Maryland. Winston threw for 393 yards and 5 TDs while the defense held the Terps to just nine first downs for the entire game.

Florida State is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games on the road, but it has famously not won at Death Valley since 2001. Will Jameis Winston add to his growing legend and lead the Noles to victory? Bet now on the Florida State Seminoles.

Betting on Clemson

Not to be outdone by his younger counterpart, Tajh Boyd has had an equally impressive and Heisman-worthy season. The senior quarterback is averaging 297 yards/game at 66.5% completion with 15 TDs against just 2 INTs. He has also added five rushing touchdowns for 6-0 Clemson.

Boyd and the Tigers also had a terrific performance in Week 1 when they knocked of Top 10-ranked Georgia at Death Valley, by far their most impressive win of the season. Boyd produced 312 total yards of offense and was responsible for 5 Clemson touchdowns (3 passing, 2 rushing).

Meanwhile, Clemson’s defense has also proven to be one of the most fearsome in the country. Led by the nation’s sack leader Vic Beasley (9.0 sacks), the Tigers are 10th in points allowed (16.2 points/game), and they’re #1 in both sacks per game (4.0) and tackles for a loss (61).

The Tigers nearly suffered a major setback last week as it was trailing Boston College in the fourth quarter. Fortunately, Boyd ran home a touchdown which put Clemson back in front and Beasley returned a fumble for a touchdown to secure the 24-14 victory.

Boyd and the Tigers have put the “Death” in “Death Valley” against the Seminoles in the last decade. Clemson is 5-0 SU in its last 5 home games vs Florida State. Will Clemson kill the Noles’ national title dreams? Bet now on the Clemson Tigers.
