Betting on Andy Murray (-2,000)

Andy Murray’s bid for a third Wimbledon title remains right on track after thrashing Dustin Brown in the second round on Wednesday. The world no. 1 needed just one hour and 36 minutes to produce the 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 victory as he showed no ill effects of the right hip injury which had dogged his preparations for this Grand Slam tournament.

With the victory, Murray reached the round of 32 at Wimbledon for the 13th time in his career. In fact, the Scot has never failed to advance to the third round in 13 appearances at the All England Club. Next up for Murray is an intriguing clash with Fabio Fognini. The two stars have faced each other six times before but none of those meetings have come on grass.

For Murray to establish his superiority this coming Friday, he needs to continue his excellent return play and put pressure on Fognini’s serve. Murray won 46 percent of his receiving points in the second round against Brown with the Brit converting five of his 10 break point chances. In this tournament thus far, the defending champion has converted 10 of his 22 break point opportunities for a solid 45 percent success rate.

Betting on Fabio Fognini (+1,000)

Fabio Fognini barged into the third round of the 2017 Wimbledon Championships with a convincing 7-6 (3), 6-4, 6-2 victory over Jiri Vesely on Wednesday. It was an impressive showing from the 30-year-old, who needed just one hour and 57 minutes to eliminate the hard-hitting Czech.

Just like in his previous match against Tursunov, Fognini’s serve was the main difference once again. He won 86 percent of his first serve points in the straight-sets win against Vesely. Fognini also blasted a whopping 60 winners in that second-round contest, stretching his tournament total to 108. Fognini has been sensational in this year’s Wimbledon as he has yet to drop a set in his opening two matches.

Fognini will look to continue his excellent form in the round of 32 when he takes on fan favorite Andy Murray. The Italian will be licking his chops at the prospect of facing the defending champion as he is 3-3 against Murray in their head-to-head matchup. Fognini pulled off a stunning victory against the Scot in the first round of the Rome Masters earlier this year, beating him in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
