The Arizona Cardinals finally tasted victory in Week 5, but can they keep it up this coming Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings on the road. The Cardinals are only +7,500 to win the NFC West, but that’s what miracles are for. As for the Vikings, they are eyeing to record their first back-to-back wins of the season. Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (1-4)
The Cardinals are not expected to go places this season, but at least they’re not going to end the year winless after securing their first victory of the season last week, topping the San Francisco 49ers on the road, 28-18. The Cardinals didn’t play a clean game, manufacturing only 220 total yards on offense and allowing the Niners rack up 447. What tilted the game in Arizona’s favor was the five turnovers it forced, as the Cardinals recorded three interceptions and two lost fumbles – all committed by San Francisco quarterback C.J. Beathard. The Cards also sacked Beathard four times for a loss of 49 yards. If the Cardinals could sustain that kind of pressure on defense, they could at least keep in step with the Vikings on Sunday. The Vikings are 11th in the league with 1.4 turnovers per game, while the Cardinals are eight in the NFL with 1.8 takeaways per contest.
The Cardinals are 3-0 ATS in their last three games as an underdog.
Betting on the Minnesota Vikings (2-2-1)
Minnesota came back to life in Week 5. Following two-straight losses to the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Rams, the Vikings upstaged the defending Super Bowl champs i9n a 23-21 road win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins uncorked 301 passing yards and a touchdown on an efficient 30-of-37 completions. The Vikings only had 77 rushing yards, but that’s an impressive output considering that the Eagles have the second-best defense against the run. Running back Latavius Murray and company should have more success on the ground this coming Sunday with the Cardinals fronting Minnesota with a rushing defense that allows the second-most rushing yards per game (142.4). Speaking of running back, Vikings starter Dalvin Cook is questionable for the Arizona game with a hamstring injury.
The under is 4-1 in the Vikings’ last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Minnesota wins, 31-20.
