Betting on the Arizona Wild Cats (19-4)

The Wildcats are going streaking. Archie Miller’s team extended its unbeaten run to seven games after handing Washington State a 100-72 loss last Wednesday. Arizona mostly used its 1-2 punch of Allonzo Trier and Deandre Ayton to torture the Cougars with the two players 49 points. Trier was a perfect 8-for-8 from the field, which includes four three-pointers, while Ayton was 11-of-12. Overall the Wildcats shot a crazy 61.9 percent from the floor, which could be seen as a fluke but not by those who are familiar with the explosive offense of Arizona. The Wildcats are 25th in the nation with 82.5 points on a third-best 51.4 field goal shooting percentage. Trier and Ayton are NBA talents who always find ways to toy with opposing defenses. That may continue to be the case this Saturday, as the Huskies are only 175th overall with 72.8 points allowed per game. Trier is tops in the Pac-12 with 19.7 points per game, while Ayton is right behind him with 19.5 to go with a conference-leading 10.5 boards per contest.

Betting on the Washington Huskies (16-6)

Don’t tell the Huskies that they don’t know how to deal with high scoring teams. Just this Thursday, Washington contained No. 25 Arizona State’s high-flying offense, limiting the Sun Devils to only 44.4 field goal shooting percentage and way below their season average of over 80 points per game in a 68-64 home win. In fact, the Huskies have tightened up on defense of late, as they have not allowed more than 64 points in each of their last three games in which they also went 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS. The Huskies’ play the passing well and have intimidating ball hawks as they are eighth in the nation with 8.6 steals per game. They had 10 against Arizona State. To keep in step with Arizona, though, Washington still need the pair of Jaylen Nowell and Noah Dickerson to keep the offense clicking. Nowell leads the team with 16.7 points per game, while Dickerson provides 14.2. They had 15 and 21 against the Sun Devils. They still need help, however, especially from their bench that only had nine points in the Arizona State game.

Writer’s Prediction:

Washington stuns the Wildcats, 73-71.
