Betting on the Auburn Tigers (6-3 Overall / 3-3 Conference)
Auburn got their second win in a row on Saturday when they defeated the No. 20 Texas A&M Aggies at home, 28-24. Auburn’s air attack and its defense both played key roles in the team passing the test against Texas A&M. Tigers quarterback Jarrett Stidham went 18-of-29 for 239 passing yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions, while Auburn’s defense came up with five sacks. That kind of pass rush success, however, isn’t new to Auburn, as the team entered Saturday ranked second in the SEC with 24.0 sacks. Hopefully for the Tigers, they’ll be able to find as much success in invading Georgia’s pocket next week, but they also have to solve their anemic run game that only had 19 rushing yards on 21 carries against Texas A&M. Conversely, Auburn should also churn out a better effort in protecting its quarterback after Stidham was sacked three times by the Aggies.
Auburn is 2-1-1 ATS in its last four road games.
Betting on the Georgia Bulldogs (8-1 Overall / 6-1 Conference)
The Bulldogs had no plans of getting victimized by the Kentucky Wildcats and they made sure of that by trouncing the Wildcats on Saturday in Lexington to the tune of a 34-17 score. It’s easy to tell what made the biggest difference for the Bulldogs. Their backfield went all out and killed it, generating 331 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 50 total carries. Georgia running backs D’Andre Swift and Elijah Holyfield teamed up to form a powerful 1-2 punch in the Bulldogs’ backfield with 156 and 115 rushing yards, respectively. Swift had two rushing scores, while Holyfield chipped in one. That the Bulldogs entered the game 29th in the nation and second in the conference with 212.7 rushing yards per game suggest that they are going to try to run the ball down the throat of Auburn’s defense. That doesn’t seem like a bad idea at all, considering that the Aggies racked up 201 yards on the ground last Saturday against the Tigers.
Georgia is 5-0 ATS in its last five home games against the Tigers.
