The Georgia Bulldogs had quite a scare over the weekend as they had to battle back from a double-digit deficit against the unranked Missouri Tigers to prevent a major upset and score a 26-22 road victory. The Auburn Tigers, on the other hand, suffered their second defeat in conference play in a 21-17 home loss to the LSU Tigers Saturday. Will Georgia win in a more convincing fashion this time around than the one they had against Mizzou? Or will Auburn show more cracks in the armor of the defending national champions? Betting on the Auburn Tigers (+29.5)
Record: 3-2 Overall / 1-1 Conference
Auburn struck first in the LSU game but a scoreless second half sealed its doom. Bryan Harsin’s seat must be a whole lot hotter right now than it was before that game, and that’s saying a lot since speculations about his job security have been a common discussion in the college football circle. In any case, Auburn needs a strong rebound. While it is difficult to make a case why Auburn will beat the Bulldogs this coming weekend, it can be said that the Tigers might be catching Georgia at just the right time, with the reigning national champions coming off a lackluster showing in Week 5, so a cover at least should be very much in play for Harsin’s squad.
The Under is 9-1 in Auburn’s last 10 games as the road team.
Betting on the Georgia Bulldogs (-29.5)
Record: 5-0 Overall / 2-0 Conference
The Bulldogs were surprisingly tested by Mizzou Saturday night, but they also showed how tough they really are to beat. Even when backed up against the corner on the road, Georgia found a way to escape Week 5 with a win, Stetson Bennett passed for 312 yards (0 touchdowns, 0 INT) on 24/43 completions but the Bulldogs’ ground attack answered the call on offense with Kenny McIntosh and Kendall Milton rushed for a touchdown each. The Bulldogs had several uncharacteristic issues in that game, including turnovers, drops, and a bunch of penalties, but those can all be fixed right away and handled well next Saturday against an LSU squad that hasn’t really proven much this season.
Georgia is 5-5 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Georgia wins, 41-10.
